Gnome Magazine is an online resource and experimental platform for the New York art community.
We are aware that the Internet is an invaluable tool when it comes to research and global communication. We use the Internet’s structure and design to archive, organize and share writing and ideas. To further our goal of fostering critical thinking and research, we also commission Internet-based projects to bring awareness to the implications of new technologies and other relevant social and political issues.
We encourage our readers to think about the way in which they receive and process digital information. Because we are skeptical of the increasing popularity among strictly web-based conversations—conversations in which the sender and receiver of the messages do not have to be present in the same place and time—we are working to facilitate environments that foster real-time communication, including meet up groups for art and writing critiques, film screenings, book swaps and lectures.
